Hi, How can we help?

What is Trot?

  • In Trot fixtures, the person that is controlling the horse is called the driver as in most of the races they do not sit on the horse's back. Instead, they are pulled-along in a two-wheeled cart which is known as a sulky. Only in very few Trot races, so called monte races, the horse is ridden by a jockey.
  • The horse is required to travel at a specific gait. Any runner that breaks into a full gallop will be disqualified from the race. Trotting races are slower than Gallop fixtures. Track-position is key and the races are very tactical. No jumping takes place in a Trot event.
