Hi, How can we help?

How does the Starting Prices odds work?

  • A major difference between horse betting compared to sports betting are the different kinds of odds available. While sports betting usually always only allows you to struck a bet a fixed-odds, in horse and greyhound betting there are different kind of odds offered depending on the event country and race type.
  • For fixtures taking place in the UK, Ireland and the United Arab Emirates the Starting Price (SP) represents the odds prevailing on a horse in the on-course fixed-odds betting market at the time a race begins. When you make a SP bet, you will not know the odds you are getting. The odds will not be known until the fixture is underway. Any odds that are shown in the SP column, on our race cards, are only a guide to the likely SP based on the current market.
  • We may refer to Starting Prices in races run in other countries than the one's mentioned above. In such cases the Tote Odds are deemed to be the SP.
